THE ARSENAL
in Central Park at 64th Street and Fifth Avenue

This large-scale window restoration project encompasses four
fully occupied floors with 120 wood windows including several
large windows measuring 6 feet by 9 feet, all in need of comprehensive restoration. The Arsenal borders the Central Park Zoo and is designated an official New York City Landmark.

The cornerstone for this gothic structure at Morningside Heights, near
Columbia University, was laid in November 1908. Nearly 100 years later
QRW releaded 11 bays of leaded glass windows set in stone. Each bay
has four lancets and tracery. Windows measure approximately 8 feet by
15 feet. QRW restored about 1,000 double-hung sash glazed with leaded
glass and about 100 steel windows.

QRW restored 35 wood, double-hung window units and three
monumental triple-hung, sash and also restored the wood frames.
The full interior of the Cathedral, which opened to the public in 1941,
is the length of two football fields.

Built by a Dutch family in the 18th century farming village of Flatbush, Lefferts Historic House interprets the history of Brooklyn’s environment from pre-Colonial times until the present, using its working garden, historic artifacts, and documents, as well as period rooms and exhibits.

QRW’s replacement and restoration work on the dormer windows of artist Alex Katz’s Soho studio was honored with an award from the Landmark Preservation Society of New York City.

This handsome brick building houses The Rainbow Foundation
at the corner of Park Avenue and 80th Street. Work included replacement
of seventy-five wood sash and restoration of 75 existing frames.
This is a Landmarked building.

In 2000, shareholders in the 1892 McIntyre residential building decided
to restore rather than replace all the wood windows. The 180 pairs of
sash were repainted and the frames restored.

Refurbished 75 wood windows from this 64-room mansion, the former
home of industrial magnate Andrew Carnegie. It holds Landmark status
and reopened in 1976 as Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum,
Smithsonian Institute.


HARVEST-on-HUDSON (restaurant)
in Hastings, New York

Total conversion of a large industrial building on the Hudson River to a beautiful, high-end Mediterranean restaurant in the style of a Tuscan farmhouse. Installation of custom-built windows by H. Hirschmann Ltd.

The Bowne House is the best-preserved example of Anglo-Dutch vernacular residential architecture in the country, and it continues to occupy its original site. The Bowne House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a New York City landmark.

Restoration of 30 bent-glass, 3-by-6-feet double-hung windows. Work included reglazing the distinctive corner windows with bent, laminated, insulated glass. See NY Times article


BROOKLYN ACADEMY of MUSIC
at 30 Lafayette Avenue

QRW restored many of the windows in this turn-of-the-20th century structure housing America’s oldest continuously operating performance arts center. Today BAM strives to be the preeminent progressive performance and cinema arts center.

QRW refurbished 30 large leaded glass windows in situ at the nation’s largest and oldest graduate school of education. Teachers College is part of the Columbia University system.
